Brown Butter Chocolate-Hazelnut Oatmeal

Warm breakfast oatmeal made with brown sugar, chocolate chips, steel cut oats, Elmhurst™ Milked Hazelnuts and butter and maple syrup.

Please Note: Most oats are gluten-free, and chocolate chips are usually gluten-free as well. However, it’s important to check an ingredient’s labeling to ensure it is certified as gluten-free.

Ingredients

2 cups Elmhurst™ Milked Hazelnuts

1 ½ cups Steel Cut Oats
¼ cup Butter
1 tbsp. Brown Sugar
1 tbsp. Maple Syrup
½ tsp. Salt
1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Directions

  1. Simmer steel cut oats in the Elmhurst™ Milked Hazelnuts until softened, around 25-30 minutes.
  2. While simmering, add butter to a small sauté pan over low heat, watch carefully, and stir often.
  3. Once the butter begins to brown, take off heat.
  4. Stir in the brown sugar, salt, and maple syrup into the browned butter until combined.
  5. Remove oats from heat once they are done.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips into the oats and ladle desired serving into a serving dish.
  7. Drizzle butter mixture over and serve immediately.
